Financial Help from Maidstone Borough Council.
Maidstone Borough Council use the Local Housing Allowance scheme to calculate the maximum housing benefit you are entitled to. The amount depends on you income and savings.

Local Housing Allowance is for everyone who claims Housing Benefit, LHA does not affect you if:
· you live in a home which is owned by us or a local authority landlord;
· you are a tenant of a registered social landlord
· you live in supported housing
· your tenancy started before 15 January 1989
· you live in a caravan, houseboat or hostel; or

Maidstone Borough Council aim to help as many people as possible to improve, repair and maintain their homes in good conditions through the Housing Assistance Policy. The policy sets out the types of assistance that is available to owner occupiers, landlords and tenants. All grants are subject to availability of resources, are registered as a local land charge and may be payable when the property is sold.
Grants are available for Disabled facilities, please contact Maidstone Borough Council for more information.
With the environment being so important Maidstone Borough Council are offering discretionary grants of up to £8,000 for owners or private tenants to install heating and insulation. Please contact Coldbusters on 0800 358 6668 for more information.
Similar grants are available for Solar Hot Water Systems of up to £1,500.
