Kent Air Ambulance called to Human Cannonball incident

The Kent Air Ambulance were called to the Kent County Show ground at Detling on Monday after a tragic accident of a Human Cannonball Stunt.

The event by Scott May’s Daredevil Stunt Show was immediately cancelled, police cordoned off the area for investigation.  Maidstone Borough Council will also be involved to check the Health and Safety of the event.

It is believed that the safety net failed to engage.  All future Scott May’s Daredevil Stunt Shows have also been cancelled and the website statement says: “With our apologies, due to unforeseen circumstances all shows have been cancelled until further notice."  The shows have been touring the UK since 1991 and include motorbike and monster trunk stunts, and pyrotechnic displays.

The injured man was taken to Maidstone Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Thousands of Bank Holiday spectators where “horrified” when the accident happened right in front of them.

Shock of the event soon turned to anger as some visitors were demanding refunds for tickets that couldn’t be used at the cancelled shows.

The man has only been named as Matt the Manx Crank aged just 23, his family have been informed.
